No time like the present to give

No time like the present to give

From ancient times to modern days, exchanging gifts has been a way to express love, gratitude, and connection. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy.

Amid the holiday chaos, you might suddenly realise you’ve run out of gift ideas. Seriously though, how many coffee mugs is too many? If the thought of choosing the right present for the right person in your life makes you ‘sigh’ with a capital S, here are some presents that don’t necessarily have to come with a hefty price tag:

Join a clean up

Looking for something to do this summer? It’s the best time to help clean up the lovely outdoors we’re surrounded by. Join a Clean Up with Clean Up Australia, and give a Christmas gift that’s warmer than socks. Better yet, bring a friend along and give them the gift of your company while doubling your impact.

Hand (and home) made

There’s something extra special when a present is made by hand, with love. If you’ve been hitting the ‘save’ button on recipes, DIY projects and tutorials, why not use this as an excuse to take up a project and create your own, budget-friendly and unique goodies to gift?

You’re the gift

All our recipients want for Christmas, is you. Did you sing that? Donating blood as a gift is free, heartfelt, and meaningful. Give a priceless gift before 5 January, and you can get an exclusive festive bandage by Kat Macleod.

Sitting this one out

Many of our donors go away for the summer and might need someone to house/pet sit. Whereas some have expressed that they’d love to donate blood but can’t get child-free time. Offering to house/pet/babysit for someone donating blood is generous and helps maintain blood supplies, especially during school holidays when parents may struggle to donate.

Social butterfly

Every time someone shares one of our social media posts, a blood donor gets their wings!

Okay, it might not be that easy, but sharing the posts we put up on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, X, and LinkedIn helps us reach even more people who might be eligible to donate blood. And when you use #lifebloodau in your post caption, you’re joining a community of like-minded donors who share content around all things blood donation.

It also helps us find and feature your posts. By giving us the gift of a wider audience, you’re helping to ensure we can continue to meet Australia’s ever-growing demand for new blood donors.
