How you can celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day
There are a lot of days to celebrate and acknowledge every year, from Record Store Day to Leave the Office Early Day (no, we’re not making that up!). Though some of them might seem a little bit silly, they can also help us to make the world a little better through small acts.
We especially think that the Random Acts of Kindness Day held on 17 February is a great way to keep good vibes coming in the New Year. We’ve pulled together three easy tasks you can do on the day to the make the world a little kinder.
Let someone go in front of you in line
Chances are at one point in your life you’ve been in a rush to get through a queue. Maybe you needed to duck out from work quickly to get to the bank in time, or you just needed to get some cold and flu medicine from the pharmacy and get back into bed.
We’ve all had moments where standing in line can be mentally and physically exhausting. If you’re not on a time crunch and see someone behind you, why not offer to let them go ahead? It’s a small act of kindness that can go a long way to helping someone get through their day.
Pay it backwards: buy coffee for the person behind you in line
What’s better than a cup of coffee on your morning break at work? Paying for the person behind you. You’ll get an extra feel good boost and so will they, and you can both leave with a pep in your step!
Donate blood or plasma
Now, we couldn’t very well mention random acts of kindness without talking about making a blood or plasma donation, could we? When you make a donation with us the act you’ve made is random, you won’t know who will end up needing your help — maybe your plasma will be made into a treatment for people with immune conditions, or your blood could be used for patients being treated for cancer — but you will know for sure that when you donate you’ll be giving the gift of life. What could be kinder than that?
