Olympian Brad Hore and Lifeblood team up to support a nation for blood donation
Lifeblood has teamed up with Olympian and Indigenous artist, Brad Hore to create a bandage that lets blood donors share their national pride.
Brad Hore understands what it means to have the support of an entire nation behind him. As a boxer, he has represented Australia at two Olympic games over a 25-year sporting career. He has flown the flag for Australia at home and abroad, and now, he wants to give blood donors the opportunity to wear their country’s colours too. Lucky for us, boxing isn’t the only endeavour Brad excels at.
After hanging up the gloves, Brad found a new passion in art. Working primarily on digital and canvas, Brad uses his artwork to connect with country and tell unique stories, making him the perfect artist to create our new bandage for the latest True Colours campaign We’re a Nation for Blood Donation.
In Brad’s words, his artwork, “Honors the sixty known Indigenous Olympians who have encouraged mob and community to give back and believe in something bigger. Our community is also represented with boomerangs, it is the cycle of coming and going, giving, and taking, and it’s about the true spirit of being a part of a bigger people.”
Brad also sees similarities between his community and the blood donor community, explaining how the artwork, “…represents those coming to give blood to those who need the support of others; the transfer and gift of life itself. It’s the dedication, honour and heart that inspires us to do more and give more. With the support of community behind us, we are capable of anything, including saving the lives of others.”
At Lifeblood, we’re so proud to be able to partner with such an accomplished Australian artist and we can’t wait to share his amazing work with our blood donors. If you want to grab your own piece of art, give blood between 29 July and 8 September and score a limited-edition True Colours bandage designed by Brad.
