When it comes to saving lives, V/LINE donors are all aboard.
Despite being dispersed all over Victoria, these V/Line staff members are united by their dedication to saving lives.
V/Line’s Lifeblood Team began as part of a friendly competition between V/Line, the Department of Transport and Planning, Metro Trains Melbourne and Yarra Trams. The Vic Transport Blood Drive saw staff from across the V/Line network volunteer to give blood, as the organisation worked to support a cause they believed was critical to their communities. To help drive donations, V/Line encouraged staff to join their Lifeblood Team.
Now, what started as a competition has turned into a regular life-saving routine for some staff.
"One significant advantage is the sense of camaraderie and teamwork that comes from uniting towards a common goal of saving lives through blood donation,”
With a team spread out across the state, it was difficult for staff to give blood together. Instead, the V/Line team were able to use their organisation’s social platforms to foster that sense of community – sharing photos of their donations and motivating others to give. Team Champion and Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Wellness, Victoria Cleft, said she could see the benefit of launching a Lifeblood Team at V/Line, “One significant advantage is the sense of camaraderie and teamwork that comes from uniting towards a common goal of saving lives through blood donation.”
Since their team's inception, V/Line have saved countless lives, but they can’t do it alone. It takes all of us to save lives. If you want to make a difference, please book a donation today!
